Beaver Fire Contained at UMRWA Forest Health Project Area Boundary

On December 4, 2025, the 15‑acre Beaver Fire in Amador County was successfully contained after it reached the boundary of a forest health treatment area completed by the Upper Mokelumne River Watershed Authority (UMRWA). The fire ignited approximately nine miles west of Salt Springs Reservoir.

As the fire entered the treated area, its behavior shifted from an active burn to a lower‑intensity surface fire. The project area, previously thinned and treated to reduce hazardous fuels and improve overall forest resilience, provided firefighters with safer, more favorable conditions for direct suppression.

The Beaver Fire demonstrates how proactive management can make a measurable difference in real‑world conditions. The incident highlights the importance of collaborative, landscape‑scale forest health initiatives across the Upper Mokelumne watershed.
